Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9-inch round or square baking pan.

Mix Dry Ingredients:

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugars, baking powder, and salt.

Combine Wet Ingredients:

  • In another bowl, mix eggs, milk, melted butter (or oil), and vanilla extract.

Make the Batter:

  • Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

Add Chocolate Chips:

  • Fold in chocolate chips evenly. Lightly coat them in flour beforehand to prevent sinking.

Bake:

  • Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool:

  • Let the cake cool completely before slicing or frosting.

Serve:

  • Serve plain or with your favorite frosting.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the cake soft and fluffy.
  • Toss chocolate chips in flour to prevent them from sinking.
  • Slightly underbake for a softer, more tender texture.
