Ingredients

For the Sandwich

  • 4 slices sourdough brioche, or artisan bread
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries or frozen blueberries
  • 1 tbsp honey 1–2 tbsp or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp lemon zest optional
  • 4 slices Havarti 4–6 slices Brie, white cheddar, or mozzarella
  • 2 tbsp butter or garlic butter

Optional Add-Ins

Instructions

Prepare the Blueberries

  • Add blueberries and honey (or maple syrup) to a small pan.
  • Warm over medium heat until berries soften and burst slightly.
  • Add lemon zest if using. Remove from heat.

Assemble the Sandwiches

  • Butter one side of each bread slice.
  • Place one slice (butter-side down) in a skillet.
  • Add a layer of cheese, a spoonful of the blueberry mixture, and another layer of cheese.
  • Add optional basil, cream cheese, or a drizzle of balsamic if desired.
  • Top with the second bread slice (butter-side up).

Grill the Sandwich

  • Cook over medium-low heat for 3–4 minutes per side.
  • Flip once golden and melty.
  • Lower heat if bread browns too quickly.

Rest Before Slicing

  • Let sit for 2 minutes before cutting to allow cheese to set.
  • Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a thicker filling, cook blueberries a bit longer to reduce liquid.
  • Use two cheeses (melty + flavorful) for the best texture.
  • Add fresh basil for a bright, gourmet touch.
  • Air fry at 370°F for 5 minutes to reheat leftovers.
