Cream Cheese Frosting (Optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together warm milk, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until slightly foamy.
  • Add egg, melted butter, salt, and flour. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for 3–4 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rest for 15 minutes in a warm place.
  • Roll the dough into a rectangle about ¼-inch thick. Spread softened butter evenly over the surface.
  • Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly over the buttered dough.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal rolls.
  • Place rolls into the prepared baking dish and let rest for 10 minutes while the oven finishes heating.
  • Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until lightly golden and cooked through.
  • While rolls bake, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Spread frosting over warm rolls and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Warm milk should feel warm to the touch, not hot, to activate yeast properly.
  • Avoid adding too much flour—slightly soft dough creates fluffier rolls.
  • Frost rolls while warm for the best gooey texture.
