  • 1 tbsp olive oil (or butter)
  • 8 oz mushrooms (white button or cremini), cleaned and sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar optional for added depth

Instructions

Heat the Oil:

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Add Mushrooms:

  • Add sliced mushrooms in a single layer.
  • Let them cook undisturbed for 3–4 minutes to brown one side.

Stir and Season:

  • Stir mushrooms, then add garlic, salt, pepper, and herbs.
  • Continue to sauté for 5–7 minutes until mushrooms are browned and tender.

Optional Step – Add Balsamic:

  • Stir in balsamic vinegar in the final minute for extra flavor.

Cool Slightly & Use:

  • Let mushrooms cool slightly before adding to pizza to avoid soggy crust.
  • Add as a topping before baking your pizza or warm slightly for pre-cooked pies.

Notes

  • Fridge: Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Freezer: Not recommended as mushrooms can get watery when thawed.
  • Reheat: Warm in a skillet or microwave before using on pizza.
