Topping

  • 1 cup crispy fried onions or ¾ cup buttered cracker crumbs

Instructions

Prep the Beans:

  • If using fresh beans, blanch 5 minutes in salted boiling water, rinse under cold water, and drain.
  • If using canned beans, drain well.

Make the Cream Base:

  • In a bowl, whisk together soup, sour cream or cream cheese, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Fold in cheese or bacon if using.

Combine & Spread:

  • Add green beans into the sauce and mix to coat.
  • Pour mixture into a lightly greased casserole dish.

Top It:

  • Sprinkle fried onions or cracker crumbs evenly over the top.

Bake:

  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes, or until hot, bubbly, and the topping is golden brown.

Rest & Serve:

  • Allow to sit 5–10 minutes before serving for the sauce to settle.

Notes

  • Fresh green beans offer the best texture, but canned beans are a great time-saver.
  • Add bacon for smokiness or cheese for extra richness.
  • For a crispier topping, add half your onions halfway through baking and finish with the rest just before serving.
