Optional:

Instructions

Preheat oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare seafood

  • Cut the fish into bite-sized pieces and set aside with the shrimp.

Cook aromatics

  • In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, cooking until soft and fragrant.

Make the sauce

  • Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk and cream, stirring until smooth and thickened.

Add flavor

  • Mix in parsley, thyme, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.

Combine seafood

  • Gently stir in fish and shrimp. Cook for 2–3 minutes (do not fully cook).

Assemble the pie

  • Transfer mixture to a baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes or cover with puff pastry.

Bake

  • Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the top is golden and the filling is bubbling.

Cool and serve

  • Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overcook the seafood before baking—it will finish cooking in the oven.
  • For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of cheese on top before baking.
  • If using puff pastry, cut small slits to allow steam to escape.
